This is the doubt that costs me the most time. I will take something that is already fine and keep sanding it, telling myself it just is not ready yet. It needs one more pass. It needs to be perfect before anyone sees it.
Elizabeth Gilbert nailed it: "Perfectionism is just fear in high heels." It looks like high standards. It is usually just fear that dressed up nicer so I would not recognize it.
Set the bar on the floor
The first time I made content, I got myself to start by setting one goal, and only one. Not to make great work. Not to go viral. Not to rack up views. Just to make something. It did not matter if nobody watched. My whole job was to create one episode, then the next, and improve along the way.
Because the bar was that low, showing up felt doable. And doable is the only thing that turns into consistent. Consistent is the only thing that turns into real.
Polishing is just fear that ships slower
When I catch myself redesigning something that was already good enough, that is not craft. That is avoidance with a better costume. The extra pass is rarely for the work. It is for me, so I can put off the moment where the thing is out there and can be judged.
The takeaway: perfect is a place you never actually post from. Good enough is a place you can post from today.
