Begin · Chapter Four

I’m Too Shy to Put My Face Out There.

“I’m too shy to put my face out there.”

I am a shy introvert. Putting my face on camera for thousands of strangers to judge is, genuinely, close to my nightmare. So this doubt is not made up. The discomfort is real, and pretending it is not never helped me.

You already did the scary version

Seven years ago I started a podcast and a YouTube channel called Brand Origins. It was my first time recording, my first time showing up on camera, and I was exactly as scared as you would expect. I did it anyway. And it grew into something real, with people actually listening and watching.

So the evidence is already in. The scared version of me can do this, because it already did.

The fear does not leave, you just stop waiting

For a long time I kept waiting to feel ready, as if one day the fear would just be gone and then I would start. It does not work like that. The fear does not fully leave. You just stop treating its absence as the starting gun. You accept that you are scared, and you do it anyway. Writing that down, admitting it plainly, already makes it smaller.

The takeaway: shy is not a disqualification. It is just the weather you post in.
