It’s a special kind of hell being a person who comes up with a lot of ideas and not having the skills to build them. I’d get a burst of inspiration, some amazing idea, and I’d note it down.
Then it would just sit there in my notes for weeks, months, years, never seeing the light of day.
I could hire someone else to build it, but that gets too expensive, at least for a raw idea I hadn’t even tested. So eventually I just stopped letting myself have the ideas in the first place, lol.
I lived with that for a long time. Until I got tired of living with it. Turns out “not even trying” gets boring too.
So I learned how to build.
Now when something is on my mind, I can just make it. What a time to be alive! That’s the most fun I’ve ever had working.
Where Heatseeker came from
Heatseeker came straight out of that. I run Gravity, where I create content for founders. And I kept hitting the same wall, every week, with every client: what do we make content about this week that’s actually relevant to them?
The answer was always out there. Somewhere on Reddit, a thread was blowing up on my client’s exact topic. Somewhere in a newsletter, there’s an interesting discussion they could really add value to. But I can’t read the whole internet every day. So I’d miss almost all of it, and end up staring at a blank page instead.
So I built the first version of Heatseeker. Back then it did one thing: it scoured Reddit for conversations blowing up in my client’s world and flagged the ones they’d have something worth saying about.
It worked. And the moment it worked, the questions started stacking up.
What it turned into
What if it wasn’t just Reddit? What if it watched everywhere people talk, all at once? And what if AI did the filtering, so nothing came back that the person couldn’t speak to authentically?
That’s what Heatseeker turned into. Every day it scours Reddit, X, LinkedIn, newsletters, YouTube, and TikTok for content that’s trending and blowing up right now. Then an AI profile-matching system I built grades every piece against a specific client profile and filters down to the ones that person could authentically talk about and remix into their own version.
For each one, it hands back 3 to 4 angles for the remix. Ideation goes from a blank page to picking from a short list of things you’re already qualified to say.
Right now it’s a working prototype, not a polished product. It’s an internal tool I run for my own ventures and my Gravity clients. But it’s real, it works, and it’s changed how content gets made: nobody starts from a blank page anymore.
It’s just such a nice feeling, being able to build. To have something in your head in the morning and see it running in front of you by the afternoon is still wild to me.
