I will take something that is already good and keep refining it. Another pass on the design, one more refactor, a little more tightening. It feels like diligence. Most of the time it is hiding, and I know it while I am doing it.
Polishing past good enough is avoidance
One of my most reliable ways to stall is to redesign or rebuild things that were already fine. It is the exact same failure mode as procrastination, just far more convincing, because it produces visible activity. I get to feel busy and productive while I quietly avoid the one scary step: letting it out.
It already shipped in your head
The perfect version I keep protecting only exists in my imagination. The real one is the version other people can actually see and use. Guarding the imaginary one at the cost of the real one is a bad trade, every single time I make it.
The takeaway: done and seen beats perfect and hidden. Stop sanding it. Send it.
