At some point I had to step away from making content. Life happened, plans shifted, and I went quiet for a while. Then I got the chance to come back, and for some reason I could not get myself to start. Coming back turned out to be harder than the very first day ever was.
You built an expectation while you were gone
Starting from zero, nobody expects anything, so there is nothing to fall short of. But once you have built something real, you come back carrying an assumption that everything you make now has to be great. The worst part is that almost nobody actually expects that from you. It is your own self-talk stacking an imaginary bar you now have to clear.
Strip it back to zero
The fix is to pretend it really is day one again. One episode. One post. The same low bar that worked the first time still works now. You are not obligated to instantly match the best thing you ever made. You are just obligated to make the next thing.
The takeaway: you are not resuming a legacy. You are making one more thing. Start there, and let the rest rebuild itself.
